Don Gordon, Founder and Chairman
Don Gordon, our founding father, started QC Corporation in 1971. Graduating from the University of Maryland with an Accounting degree and working as CPA for the government, Don launched himself into the Ferrous Sulfate business by purchasing a small Ferrous Sulfate drying company and called it Quality Chemicals, Inc. He would then merge his business with Cosmin Chemicals, another small ferrous sulfate drying operation and QC Corporation was born. Don’s trusted intuition and vision led to a centrally located plant within the US that had access for imported raw materials via the Mississippi River. In 1982, he relocated his Baltimore drying operation to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the rest is history. Now, QC Corporation is the largest domestic supplier of ferrous sulfate and has expanded its operations in Cape Girardeau to almost 200,000 sq. ft. of production and compaction granulation. Don continues to be very active in growth opportunities and special projects, and maintains his family business mentality. 

Jason Gordon, President & CEO
Jason Gordon has a Bachelors of Science and Business Administration from Washington University, where he earned his degree in Accounting and Finance. He is the 2nd generation to join the family business (son to Don Gordon), and currently serves as President and CEO of the company. Jason officially joined QC Corporation 18 years ago after graduating, and he learned the business from the bottom up, spending summers during college working in the Cape Girardeau, Missouri plant. This exposed Jason to all aspects of our production and manufacturing. After graduating business school in 1996, Jason returned to the corporate headquarters in Baltimore, MD where he would eventually become the Controller/CFO of the company. Jason would eventually phase into sales, marketing, procurement, diversification, growth and new business / product development, along with handling day to day operations. Since joining, Jason has played an integral part in 3 major company expansions, including the most recent “state-of-the-art” compaction granulation facility, allowing for continual growth and compaction granulation diversification.

Jeff Davis, CFO
Jeff joined QC Corporation in January of 2010. He is a graduate of Loyola University (Baltimore, MD) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, and a Master of Science degree in Finance also from Loyola University. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. His wealth of financial leadership experience has mainly been focused in Manufacturing and Distribution operations with multiple locations both domestically and internationally. He has acquired multi-million dollar financing for acquisitions, built accounting organizations, consolidated acquired businesses and has been involved in the disposition of underperforming operations. Jeff has worked in both the public and private sectors with companies ranging from start-up operations to billion dollar organizations.

Eric Hyatt, COO
A graduate from the University of Maryland, Bachelor of Arts, Eric Hyatt joined QC Corporation in August of 2012. His recent addition to our team comes with past QC Corporation experience as Eric worked from 1993 through 1999 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, heading up QC’s Ferrous Sulfate sales during that time. In late 1999, Eric’s entrepreneurial desires prompted him to pursue other opportunities and immerse himself in Aquaculture, commercial real estate and retail companies, which he then sold in 2011. As COO, Eric brings 25 years of hands-on business experience of leadership, operations, business development, merger and acquisition, and growth and diversification strategies to the QC table.

John Guglielmi, Senior VP Sales & Marketing
John Guglielmi holds a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology from Auburn University. He also earned a M.S. in Ag Economics from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Indiana University. John has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in the fertilizer industry. As Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Business Development, he will be responsible for establishing a formal sales approach to the many markets serviced by QC and to explore and establish new business opportunities for QC’s custom formulation compaction granulation process, for plant health and nutrition in specialty ag markets. John is a Certified Crop Advisor and a Certified Turf Grass Professional and resides in Orlando, Florida.

Jake Socherman, National Sales Manager
Jake Socherman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agri-business from the University of Florida. Jake has been working in the fertilizer industry for over 20 years and has had national and regional sales and marketing responsibilities in production horticulture, professional turf and specialty agriculture. As National Sales Manager for QC Corporation, Jake will be responsible for managing existing and new customer relationships and working with the QC team to develop new and unique fertilizer products for targeted markets. Jake resides outside of Portland, Oregon.



Our Executive Team, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Buck Williams, Senior Engineering and Special Projects
Henly (aka Buck) Williams, who started with QC Corporation in 1974, has been responsible for engineering QC’s manufacturing facilities. His untested loyalty and knowledge of our production processes have allowed QC to become the leading Ferrous Sulfate drying and granulation producer in the country.  During every expansion, Buck designed and assisted with manufacturing leaps proven to surpass industry standards and pushing the limits of our company by allowing for innovation and horizontal diversification.  Today, Buck continues to oversee expansion and special projects, and is integral in providing his expertise for our new 36,000 sq. ft. granulation production addition.

Tom Kiser, Plant Manager
Tom Kiser has provided over 31 years of quality workmanship and dedication to QC Corporation. As a model employee, Tom’s proven method of leadership and teamwork have earned him Plant Manager status. Tom is involved with every aspect of manufacturing and is key in providing his expertise during QC’s expansion plans.

Brian Barrett, Vice President Quality Assurance / Chief Chemist
Brian Barrett joined QC Corporation in September of 1995. He already had 15 years of analytical chemistry experience when joining QC in the fields of Flavor Chemistry, Graphic Arts Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. With Brian’s extensive experience in both Quality Assurance / Quality Control positions as well as Research and Development, QC’s quality is unsurpassed with Brian at the helm and his staff of 4 junior chemists providing support.

Lisa Long, Customer Service and Logistics Manager
Lisa officially started as our Customer Service and Logistics Manager in January of 2011. She brings 22 years of dedicated customer service experience and a penchant for assisting our customers with quality solutions. Although Lisa became a certified Flight Attendant but never pursued this career path, she worked 12 years with a privately owned employment agency and spent 10 years working with an Engineering firm contracted through Proctor & Gamble. “I have always geared my positions toward the Customer Service field because I love people”, says Lisa.

Steve May, Plant Manager, North Lima, Ohio
Steve, having been raised in the Ohio Valley, got his start in the steel mill industry where he worked as an assembler building refractory gunning equipment. After he was brought on to Add Iron Corporation, QC’s sister company, Steve is proud to serve as plant manager with over 15 years of leadership, production, quality control, inventory management and shipping and receiving.
