Diamond Brand® Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate
(FeSO4•H2O) contains the greatest amount of Iron per ton
(Fe ~30%) when compared to other forms of Ferrous
Sulfate and the least amount of interior water (one molecule
or ~15% by weight). Ferrous Sulfate is derived from
the processing of ilmenite ore in the manufacture of the
paint pigment Titanium Dioxide, or as a co-product from
the pickling of steel. At QC Corporation, we evaporate all
exterior moisture from each crystal, and remove 6 of the
7 molecules of interior moisture, via rotary dryers, to
produce a free-flowing Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate.
Diamond Brand® Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate is produced
in either powder form (Standard), or is compacted and
screened for uniformity at our Cape Girardeau, MO facility
into coarse or fine granular forms.
APPLICATIONS
Diamond Brand® Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate is used as
a feed supplement to prevent anemia caused by iron
deficiencies in the diets of swine, poultry and other
animals. The Agricultural, Lawn and Garden, and Turf
Management industries use Diamond Brand® Ferrous
Sulfate Monohydrate to correct iron chlorosis or
deficiencies in plants and soils, to eliminate moss, to
reduce alkalinity, and as a trace element or micronutrient
in fertilizers.
In addition, Diamond Brand® Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate is used as a reducing agent in the treatment of hazardous wastes, and as a coagulant and flocculent in the treatment of sewage waste, industrial effluents, raw drinking water and other wastewater sources. It is also used as a reducing agent in the removal of phosphates and odor causing hydrogen sulfide from various waste sources.
